Throughout his life Steve has proudly contributed to multiple philanthropic causes and is committed to supporting initiatives with life changing and lasting impact.
Philanthropy
The Wynn Family Foundation
Alongside his wife Andrea, Steve founded the Wynn Family Foundation in 2020. The Wynn Foundation focusses on education, community outreach, art and healthcare.
Through the foundation Steve and Andrea have supported several educational initiatives, including scholarships and funding for universities, aimed at supporting the educational and personal development of young people in Las Vegas, including career readiness and arts education programs. The foundation further helps disadvantaged communities, offering donations to local shelters, food banks, and youth programs, particularly in Nevada and Massachusetts.
The Wynn Foundation funded the development of the Wynn Hospital in the Utica area of New York, where Steve grew up.
The 24-hour hospital which opened its doors in 2023, is a 373-bed level III Trauma Centre and provides state of the art medical care throughout the Mohawk Valley. Its services include a comprehensive stroke center, cardiac procedures, maternity services, pediatric unit, diagnostic center, oncology services, behavioral health unit, critical care services and surgical care.
Cleveland Clinic
After being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa in his twenties and experiencing progressive vision loss, Steve has been deeply committed to supporting blindness research. A generous benefactor of the Cleveland Clinic, he has made substantial donations, particularly to its Eye Clinic and Brain Health Initiative. His contributions have played a crucial role in advancing research and treatment for neurological diseases, retinal disorders, and inherited eye conditions.
Prostate Cancer Foundation
For many years, Steve has been a dedicated supporter of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the world’s leading philanthropic organization funding life-saving prostate cancer research. In 2021, he and Andrea hosted a gala dinner at their Palm Beach home in honor of the Foundation, with Andrea playing a key role in raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer research.
Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation
Steve has been a resident of Palm Beach since 2014 and has witnessed first-hand the extraordinary work the organization does to support Palm Beach first responders and protect the local community and is proud be a supporter of the foundation. In January 2025 Steve and Andrea were honored to accept the Palm Tree Award from the Foundation.
Garrett Reisman & The Golden Nugget Scholarship
Steve takes great pride in having supported Garrett Reisman on his path to becoming a NASA astronaut. As a recipient of the Golden Nugget Scholarship in 1986 – an initiative Steve launched in 1980 to help young people pursue higher education – Reisman went on to achieve remarkable success. He flew on two space missions, first aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 2008 and later with the Atlantis crew in 2010, during which he conducted a spacewalk to install new equipment on the International Space Station.
AmFAR
Both Steve and Andrea were honored with the Philanthropic Leadership award by amfAR in March 2025 for their exceptional contributions to healthcare and scientific advancements. Steve is proud to be a part of amfAR’s commitment to eradicating HIV/ AIDs, and to support them with investments into science and medicine to bring us closer to the ultimate goal of a cure.
Boston Children’s Hospital
With a desire to improve medical facilities and patient care for children, Steve provided financial backing for pediatric care and cancer research for the Boston Children’s Hospital.
The Shade Tree
Steve has directed a significant portion of his life to supporting endeavors such as The Shade Tree, a shelter dedicated to protecting homeless and abused women and children in Las Vegas. The charity provides emergency shelter, as well as long-term housing assistance, mental health services, and job training.
The Nevada Partnership For Homeless Youth
Over many years Steve has contributed to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable people in Nevada. His commitment to NPHY has provided outreach services, housing, and educational support for homeless young people in Las Vegas.
Three Square Food Bank
As part of his broader community outreach, Steve has supported Three Square Food Bank, one of the largest food banks in the region, which works to provide food to individuals and families in need. Steve’s donations have helped fund food distribution programs, particularly those that focus on feeding children and seniors.
Boys & Girls Clubs Of Southern Nevada
Steve’s donations have helped fund scholarships, youth development programs and after-school programs and resources to at-risk youth in the area of South Nevada.
Clark County School District
Steve has supported local schools by funding initiatives that improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged students. His donations have helped provide grants for extracurricular activities, tutoring, and scholarships.
